The sun was shining and it was with great joy that the congregation joined with friends and family to fill Christ Church Anglican to witness the marriage of the Reverend Rick Paulin to Marina Fumerton on September 27th. The bride was resplendent in her
white satin gown embroidered with burgundy flowers. The groom wore a matching burgundy jacket. Attendants for the couple were Teresa Carlson (bride's sister), maid of honour, and John MacDonald (good friend of groom), best man.
The Right Reverend John Privett, assisted by the Venerable David Irving, officiated the wedding. Choir members from St. Saviour's Penticton joined those from Christ Church Creston and St. Anselm's Boswell. When the Bishop came to the part of the ceremony where the congregation was asked: "Will you do all in your power to support and uphold this marriage?" there was a resounding "We will!" from all those present. The community will be giving this couple all the support they may need.
Following the service there were refreshments in the church hall, served by students from the Interact Club at Prince Charles Senior Secondary High School. Members of the congregation where able to meet with Rick and Marina's family and friends who came from BC, AB, Sask. and as far away as Ontario and Great Britain. Sophia Smith played lovely music in the church foyer on her Cello and again during dinner at the Rotacrest Hall.
At the reception Martin McKenna, Master of Ceremonies, kept things moving along by reading telegraphs both real and not so real and Teresa told some interesting stories about her 'little' sister. Later "The Crestones", a group consisting of local musicians including Rick, played for the guests.
The congregations of Christ Church (Creston), St. Anselm's (Boswell), Harrison Memorial (Crawford Bay) and Riondel Community Church join with Rick and Marina's friends and family in wishing them every happiness in their new life together. We, of the Parish of Creston & the East Shore, feel truly blessed that Rick and Marina have chosen to make their home here.
