Rossland City Band

A good friend of our band, Mr. Walt Draper, was kind enough to supply us with the following information about the Rossland City Band:

The Rossland City Band had its earliest start about 1898. In the years 1937 and 1938 the band took the music festival championship. It had its problems (lack of members) until about the 1960's when the bandmaster was killed in a car accident just outside of Rossland. After that by the early 1970's the band just faded away. There is not too much written record about the band. Fortunately about 1938 the band started keeping records [we don't have any access to these records, bvdp].

A tip of the hat to Mr. Draper for donating about 400 scores of music left over from the Rossland Band to the Creston Band!

And, if brass bands aren't your main interest....well, there's always the pipes. For some details on the Celtic Connection in Rossland, have a wee peek at Alistair B. Fraser's Home Page.
