This family from Sierra Leone had been targeted even before the war because the husband was a
journalist and spoke against the most secret society for women and the
misdeeds of the authorities. The husband was beheaded when the war broke
out. She returned home after a fruitless search for her husband's body to
find those who killed him in her house demanding his documents which she
refused to give so her children and sisters were locked up in a room and
beaten. She was beaten as well. A week later the men came back and they were
beaten again. She had to flee to Guinea with her children and sisters who
were then living with her.
