We are pleased to tell you that the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary has donated $500 to Hospice to help with our training program. The Eagles and their Auxiliary both put on weekly bingos which are the source of funding for donations to the community. This year approximately $22,000 was distributed.
Both groups are in need of volunteers to help with the bingos, and I am pleased to say that the hall is now totally smoke-free; smoke was a major drawback for many volunteers in the past. So, if any of you have some time to spare and are interested in working with them, please call Geri McIntyre at 428-8446.
Your executive would like some input regarding our proposed 20th anniversary celebration. The latest thought is for a come-and-go tea. Please call Nicole 428-4960 or Jan at 402-2036 if you have any suggestions. We will be discussing this further at the volunteers luncheon meeting on the 28th.
A bit of history re the volunteers luncheon meetings: They have evolved over the years from a "chatty" luncheon meeting at the Hacienda, involving maybe six people, to the present meetings at the Sun R with an average of 20 volunteers, and usually a guest speaker.
When we have a speaker, these meetings are classed as part of Hospice training, and those volunteers who attend are credited with the time spent at those meetings. It is also, of course, an opportunity to meet with other volunteers; exchange ideas on Hospice functions; and to express to the executive any concerns that you may have. In order to provide the place, times, frequency, etc. of these meetings, we ask that you carefully consider the following options, remembering, of course, that these are not the only options, nor are they written in stone. Also, since there are no volunteers meetings in July and August, any decision would take effect in September.
After considering the above options, and adding any other that you come up with, please call Mary at 428-0132 prior to the 28 June meeting, and leave a message if no one is home. Even though it is impossible to please everyone, we wish to please the majority! A final comment: costs everywhere are increasing, so a $10 cost for lunch is now considered normal.
Meetings: Volunteers luncheon, 28 June, 11:45 am, Sun R Restaurant meeting room. $7 (+ beverage) for smorg, or order from the menu. Guest speaker, Margaret Kirubi
Executive, 9 am, 2 August, Public Library meeting room.

It's awfully hard to fight temptation because there is always the nagging thought that it might not come again.
. . . What is the past but what you choose to remember?
Enjoy the day!
